In 2021, Titusville Police Special Investigations Section (SIS) made significant illegal drug seizures combatting the sale and distribution of narcotics, including the highly lethal synthetic drug Fentanyl.
Undercover vice detectives within the SIS unit spent the last 13 months targeting drug dealers through a myriad of investigative techniques and vice operations, subsequently resulting in arrests and drug seizures. Over 544 grams of deadly opioids were seized by SIS, with an approximate street value of $65,000.
Additionally, SIS worked closely during 2021 with the Department of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and collected approximately 220 pounds of prescription pills through unwanted/expired Pill Take Back events.
The next DEA Pill Take Back event will be on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Parrish Medical Center and Walmart.
“We remain committed to targeting and stopping anyone who is engaged in the sale of deadly narcotics in the City of Titusville”, said SIS Sgt. Troy Barbour. “Reducing the availability of narcotics within our community, especially Fentanyl, will ultimately reduce overdoses and save lives”, added Barbour.
