Two local men have been arrested in connection with an attempted murder and aggravated assault that occurred at the 7-11 convenience store located at 2 South Hopkins Avenue late Tuesday night.
Bobby Mack Britt, 19, of Titusville, was charged with:
- Attempted First Degree Murder
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Burglary to an Occupied Residence
- Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding
- Resisting Arrest Without Violence
- Driving with Knowledge of a Suspended License
Reshod Benjamin Lewis, 27, of Titusville, was charged with:
- Principal in the First Degree to Attempted First Degree Murder
- Battery
- Resisting Arrest Without Violence
At 11:39 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, Titusville Police responded to multiple 911 calls in reference to a physical confrontation between at least two males by the gas pumps at the 7-11. Subsequent 911 calls reported shots were fired at that scene. Officers arrived on scene and found an adult male victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. An adult female victim was present and did not sustain any injuries.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the the victim had a brief physical altercation with Britt. Moments later, the victim had a separate physical altercation with Lewis, during which Britt approached the victim from behind and shot him. Additionally, during the course of the altercations, Britt pointed a gun and threatened a female victim, who was with the victim at the time of the incident.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The two suspects fled the scene southbound on Palm Avenue in a white Ford Taurus.
Officers spotted the suspect vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued. Police blocked the vehicle near the intersection of Barna Avenue and Majestic Court.
The suspects fled the disabled vehicle on foot.
Britt unlawfully entered a residence on the 1700 block of Barna Avenue.
Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
This is an ongoing investigation by the Titusville Police Department and additional charges are possible.
