A man died from his injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while walking across Columbia Boulevard (State Road 405) just after 3 am on Thursday March 27, 2025.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian, Cody N. Poirier, 30, of Merritt Island, was crossing Columbia Boulevard near Windover Trail on foot when he was struck by a 2009 Hyundai, driven by John A Maniscalco, 25, driving west on Columbia Boulevard.
Traffic investigators are continuing to process the scene and evidence, but preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian did not utilize the crosswalk near this intersection.
The driver is not expected to be charged in this incident.
The formal traffic homicide investigation is expected to take several weeks.
