Titusville Police Department Posted on September 09, 2024

A local man has died after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.

Titusville Police officers responded to a traffic crash involving a bicyclist and vehicle at approximately 9 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024, along the section of Foley Road located between Cheney Highway and SR 405.

The preliminary investigation revealed Michael Wayne Gragg, 41, of Titusville, driving a tan 2017 Chevy Silverado truck, traveling westbound on Foley Road, veered from the roadway and struck bicyclist, Gene Ryan Collins, 66, of Mims, who was also traveling westbound just north of the rear entrance lane of a local business.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:00 PM.

Gragg initially left the crash scene, but returned a few minutes later, where police conducted impairment field sobriety exercises, which subsequently provided probable cause for arrest resulting in a felony charge of DUI Manslaughter.

There were no other injuries.

Michael Wayne Gragg is being held in the Brevard County Jail without bond.

This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department and further details will be released upon its conclusion by traffic crash investigators.
