LUKE RUFUS BURGESS, 25, of Clermont, was arrested and charged with: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, Criminal Mischief over $1000 and Reckless Driving.

The preliminary investigation revealed Burgess, driving a black 2021 Ford F250, was rear-ended by another adult male, driving a 2016 black Ford F150, while they were both traveling westbound on Columbia Boulevard. Subsequently, an adult female, driving a silver 2022 silver Toyota Corolla, who was just behind the initial crash, struck the Ford F150 from behind.

The female driver was left injured at the crash scene, which was close in proximity to the Brevard County Sherriff’s Office (BCSO) Barbara A. Pill Law Enforcement Facility located at 2290 Columbia Boulevard

Both male drivers left the scene and continued driving recklessly westbound, culminating with a final crash and altercation near 2300 Columbia Boulevard.

Burgess fired a handgun twice striking the other male driver’s vehicle and a grass median.

Titusville Police responded to both crash scenes and took Burgess into custody, who had been detained by BCSO deputies on duty at the Barbara A. Pill Law Enforcement Facility.

The female driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injures.

There were no other injuries.

This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department and more charges are possible. Further details will be released upon its conclusion.
