Community Watch
Celebrating 31 years of service!
Establishment
Established in 1993, this valuable "Citizens on Patrol” program allowed qualified citizens, to volunteer their time to act as additional "eyes and ears" in our community to help detect and report crime during their patrols.
Ever-expanding roles of Volunteerism through your Titusville Police Department
The baseline of our Community Watch Program still holds true to purpose from its inception. Our Community Watch Members patrol residential neighborhoods along with commercial areas throughout our City. Providing a valued presence and a multi-faceted avenue of assistance to our Sworn Officers. Community Watch Member Patrols have proven to be a successful means of passive crime prevention and deterrent with their “real-time” reporting of suspicious activity. The future plans of the program will reach out to assisting other departments within our City’s infrastructure including Code Enforcement and our Public Works Departments along with City-sponsored Special Events.
The experience of YOUR past or present work history, the desire to explore other avenues of how to make YOUR free time matter along with being an integral contributing member of YOUR neighborhood. OUR Titusville Police Department Volunteer Program has a need for YOU to help make a difference in OUR City.
Patrol
Community Watch members patrol residential neighborhoods and business parking lots while paying close attention to suspicious and unusual activities. Along with the visible presence they provide in our neighborhoods and in the City’s business areas, they provide valuable assistance to our officers on the street. Our Community Watch members never become involved in arrests or violent situations.
Members
They handle only non-confrontational duties and report activity to police dispatchers via two-way radio. Community Watch members wear a marked, gold "Polo" shirt, and black pants and do not carry weapons or a firearm.
Community Watch Leadership
Members of the Community Watch program are under the control of the on-duty patrol Sergeant and the direct supervision of the Community Watch Coordinator.
