Alert Officer Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect

A Titusville Police Officer located and arrested an armed robbery suspect within minutes of the crime on Christmas night.
Officers responded at approximately 9:30 PM on December 25th 2018, to a report of an armed robbery in progress at the McDonald’s restaurant located 3290 Garden Street.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect entered the restaurant, jumped over the service counter, pointed a handgun at the manager and demanded cash. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot with the stolen money.
Police arrived on scene and established a perimeter around the surrounding neighborhood. A Titusville officer quickly located the armed suspect hiding under a vehicle on Dhalia Avenue.
Katray Rashon Smith, 46, of Titusville was arrested without incident and charged with for Robbery with a Firearm, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Employees were shaken by the incident, but there were no injuries.
Smith was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held without bond.
