The City of Titusville, Florida / Police / NewsArrest Made in Vehicle Burglary and Grand TheftFriday, September 28, 2018An immediate response to a report of a vehicle burglary in the parking area of the Dollar General Store, located at 1440 Harrison Street, led Titusville Police to quickly locate and arrest the suspect.
Amos-Alize Tyrone Laffette Jones Jr., 22, of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance and Grand Theft.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on Friday, September 28th 2018, at approximately 8:30 AM, the suspect reached into the open passenger-side window of the victim’s car, took the victim’s purse and then fled on foot to a nearby apartment complex.
Within an hour of the initial call, police located the suspect hiding in a residence at the apartment complex. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Police recovered the victim’s purse and all its contents, which included a large sum of cash.
The victim was not injured.
“Residents can rest easier knowing that the suspect is in custody”, said Titusville Police Lieutenant Chris DeLoach. “Officers have been extremely vigilant and proactive due to similar crimes occurring in this area over the last few months”, added DeLoach.
Jones is being held at the Brevard County Jail with a $17,000 bond.
