The key purpose of the Summer Youth Initiative Program is to provide Titusville area young men and women with a meaningful, paid work experience in a municipal government environment.

The work opportunities will provide Titusville area youth between the ages of 16 and 24 with paid summer employment specifically, for 25 hours per week for a 8-week period.  June 10 through August 2, 2019.  This year the City of Titusville is collaborating with Career Source BREVARD and Brevard Achievement Center who will assist with the pre-screening process (see form to download at the bottom of the page).  The Human Resources department will assist in matching the youth with their job preferences.  Participants will receive Florida minimum wage of $8.46/hr. Youth participants work in various departments.

Possible Worksite Employers:
Community Relations, Development Services Department, Neighborhood Services Department, Public Works Department,  Fire Department, City Clerk, Water Resources, Police Department, Human Resources Department

Examples of Jobs within the worksite employer:
Youth Clerical Assistant - Maintaining files, filing documents, scanning documents, answering telephones.

Light Maintenance Worker - landscaping, painting and assist work crew in daily outdoor jobs

In addition to providing summer employment, the selected participants will learn about the vast array of career opportunities found in local government.  Selected participants become familiar with the job hiring process, including interview and resume preparation procedures, how to conduct themselves in a professional manner and how to value their time commitments to a job.
