Sergeant Dan Carter (Ret.)
Dan Carter began his career in Titusville in May of 1982. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, he served in the US Navy from 1972 to 1981. After working as a Corrections Officer in Brevard County for one year, he then accepted a position with the Titusville Police Department.
In 1984, Dan made Detective in the Criminal Investigations Section. He served on the Brevard County Drug Task Force in 1987 and joined the department’s SWAT team in 1989.
Dan was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 1993.
Dan retired in May of 2005 after finishing his career as a Detective Sergeant with Criminal Investigations. He is married with three daughters.

In 1991, he was recognized as 1991's "Officer of the Year". Dan also received "Officer of the Month" twice, "Supervisor of the Quarter" in 1998 and 2000, and was recognized with ten Unit Citations and the Good Conduct Award.
