ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: S. Park Avenue at Smith Lane (south side of Smith) will be closed for TWO WEEKS starting October 15 at approximately 6 a.m.  The road will be closed 24-hours a day throughout the time period.  A detour will run through Smith Ln. out to Park Avenue and the side streets such as Rosella and Tudor.

Is Your Home Ready for a Hurricane? -- Free Home Inspections Available

Comprehensive Hurricane Damage MitigationProgram


To help Floridians identify how they can strengthen their homes against hurricanes and reduce hurricane damage exposure in our state, the Florida Comprehensive Damage Mitigation Program will offer free home inspections by specially qualified resistance inspectors to eligible homeowners in the state of Florida.  The inspection will provide the homeowner with recommended improvements to make the home more wind resistant. 

The program will also provide matching grants of up to $5,000 to eligible homeowners* for wind-resistance improvements as recommended in the inspection report within specific categories:

  • Improving the strength of your roof deck attachment
  • Creating a secondary water barrier to prevent water intrusion
  • Improving the survivability of your roof covering
  • Bracing gable-ends in your roof framing
  • Reinforcing roof-to-wall connections
  • Upgrading exterior wall openings protections
  • Upgrading exterior doors

*Low-income homeowners will be eligible for $5,000 grants with no match required.
