Citizens can actually zoom in on particular neighborhoods and click on an incident to see detailed information on the crime. One option includes the ability for citizens to sign up for email alerts.
“This new resource is a direct result of numerous meetings with civic groups and homeowner associations”, said Police Chief Tony Bollinger. “Our citizens are highly involved in crime prevention efforts and we are committed to providing them with the best information possible, added Chief Bollinger. Timely information on crime trends remains one of the most common requests from the community.
After researching available resources, Titusville partnered with Crime Reports, the largest public crime-mapping and citizen tip network in the Country. Forfeiture funds -money seized from criminals- funded the project.
The company is currently partnered with over a thousand other police departments across the US, providing detailed crime data to areas that include Baltimore, Boston, San Francisco, Portland, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles County.
