Titusville and area residents are urged to visit the Community Disaster Showcase Saturday, May 5 at Searstown Mall in Titusville. Available from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the showcase was organized by Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Space Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Sunflower House. Various businesses, governmental and volunteer agencies, such as Titusville Fire and Emergency Services, Brevard Emergency Management, local Community Emergency Response Teams and Brevard Fire Rescue, will also be participating.
The showcase will assist residents in building a disaster-resistant community. Citizens will learn how to prepare themselves and their property for hurricane season, and other emergency situations. Information will also be available on pool safety, the Vial of Life program, authomated external defibrillators and other emergency medical topics. Free blood pressure checks will also be given.
An additional disaster showcase is also planned for May 12 at the Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island. For more information, call (321) 255-1886.
