The City of Titusville is continuously looking for Equipment Operators, Service Workers, and Maintenance Mechanics. Applications are being accepted and will be kept on file as active for 6 months. If an opening becomes available applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Operates one or more of the following: pick-up truck, patch truck, trash truck, and/or dump truck to transport personnel, tools, equipment, and materials. May operate farm-type tractor and riding mowers to mow lots, road shoulders, and recreational areas. May operate tapping and drilling machines to install/repair high pressure lines. May operate small bucket truck used in tree trimming.
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks. Tasks depend on department and may include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting in maintenance/construction of parks, ballparks, and playgrounds; repairing of asphalt surfaces and/or fire hydrants, setting forms, finishing concrete, and laying brick; planting/trimming lawns, shrubs, and trees; and mixing/applying weed control chemicals; and solid waste collection.
Assists in the installation and modification of mechanical and/or electrical parts on structures/buildings; water/wastewater plants and pumping equipment; traffic/street lighting electrical systems; automotive equipment; commercial refuse containers; and/or ground maintenance equipment.
Minimum Qualifications Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required Depending on assignment: one year experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical/mechanical equipment or structures. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Requires valid Florida Operator's or Commercial Driver license, depending on assignment. Driving record will be checked. Depending on assignment: ability to obtain Intermediate Level MOT Certification within 1yr of employment. Must supply own tools depending on assignment. Prefer one year of related construction/ maintenance experience. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Subject to emergency call out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. May be required to work shifts and odd work weeks based on operational needs.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform heavy manual labor. Sufficient Work is occasionally performed under adverse weather conditions. Labor includes lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and working outside in all types of weather. Must be able to enter, by ladders, confined spaces and large storm water pipes for internal repairs. Must be able to pass a vision and hearing test that is correctable by either glasses or hearing aid.
DURING OCCASIONS OF LOCAL EMERGENCIES THIS POSITION MAY BE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO PERFORM EMERGENCY TASKS, WHICH MAY RESULT IN EXTENDED WORK HOURS AS WELL AS EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME AWAY FROM FAMILY MEMBERS.
