|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is skilled mechanical work in cleaning, maintaining, repairing, accuracy testing, and re-calibration adjustment of all sizes and types of water meters. Results are reviewed by supervision to establish standards of work. Inspects, removes, disassembles, cleans, determines needed repairs, and reassembles domestic, commercial and fire line service water meters. Replaces defective parts and makes necessary adjustments for prescribed performance standards of accuracy. Makes periodic field inspections, keeps records of all meter service/inventory, and supervises Meter Mechanic personnel on scheduled large meter testing, heavy repair work, and large meter replacement. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required, plus three years' experience in the repair and testing of mechanical or technical equipment and/or water meters. Prefer experience in plumbing field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid Florida chauffeur's license. Possession of a factory meter repair training certification. Subject to emergency call-out during off-duty hours and on weekends as required. Sufficient strength and agility to perform skilled mechanical work, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Daily work tasks involve bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting materials/equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to enter and work in shallow depth underground confined space, ie, large water meter vault, etc, on a daily basis to perform required maintenance.
