|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is semi-skilled work in the operation of trucks. Incumbent transports loads from place to place and is responsible for minor vehicle maintenance. Work is performed under close supervision except for the more routine repetitive assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Sufficient physical strength and ability to operate and maintain heavy trucks/equipment plus six months related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques of automotive equipment operation.
- Knowledge of the laws and ordinances regulating the operation of vehicles.
- Knowledge of hazards and of safety precautions in operating equipment.
- MOT Certified; Traffic Control.
- Ability to make minor repairs/adjustments and to service automotive equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Possession of a valid Florida Non-Commercial Class "D" driver's license or the ability to obtain a Commercial Class "B" driver's license with endorsements within 30 days from date of hire. Depending on assignment: ability to obtain Intermediate Level MOT Certification within 1yr of employment. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform required manual tasks occasionally under adverse weather conditions, i.e., heat, cold, rain, etc. Bending, stooping, pulling, climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs. is required. Must possess adequate sight and hearing capabilities to receive instructions with regard to work safety operations in the presence of moderate background noise.
