|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This position involves extensive and varied secretarial and record keeping work. Incumbent must deal with all levels of City employees and the public with tact and courtesy. Composes and types correspondence and other material on general or technical matters for supervisor. Prepares requisitions, purchase orders, work orders, etc. Monitors and assists in controlling budget expenditures for division. Maintains communication with personnel through radio/beeper/pager contact. Researches complaints, handles telephone calls, run errands for supervision. Prepares periodic reports from records according to established format. Maintains petty cash fund and records on department collections. Greets the public and provides information requiring some knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Ability to use a computer with word processing and spreadsheet software to produce reports. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Knowledge of business English, math, standard office practices and procedures required. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks by stated deadline. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required plus one year of experience in a secretarial position. Ability to type at a minimum of 45 wpm when tested. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Incumbent may be required to attend evening meetings depending on departmental assignment or operational requirements.

Ability to sit for extended periods and enter data on computer terminal. Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting required when filing or transporting material/equipment. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and unpack supply shipments upon delivery.
