|Description: ||ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:|
This is maintenance and repair work of mechanical systems on equipment, structures. Incumbent assists highly skilled mechanics in one of the following areas: water and wastewater plants/pumping stations; electrical equipment; building and furniture maintenance/repair, carpentry, painting and plumbing; and/or ground maintenance and equipment repair. Assignments are routine and repetitive and follow prescribed practices. Work is performed under the direction of any employee of higher classification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent diploma is required plus one year experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical/mechanical equipment and/or structures. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid Florida Operator's or Commercial Driver license, depending on assignment. Incumbent is subject to 24 hour emergency call-out. May be required to work shifts and odd work weeks based on operational needs. During occasions of local emergencies, this position may be required to report to perform emergency tasks, which may result in extended work hours as well as extended periods away from family members. Ability to read printed material and hear sounds. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry this weight around a construction site where obstacles are evident on a daily basis. Must be able to drive a City vehicle on a daily basis. Must be able to operate shop equipment and small power hand tools on a daily basis. Ability to enter confined spaces frequently. Must be able to climb 20-100 foot ladder depending on assignment. Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions to initiate repairs on an as-needed basis. Must have physical ability to perform daily tasks, which include stooping, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
