Regular meeting
October 20, 2020
The 2020/2021 Student Advisory Council (SAC) met in regular session on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in the Council Chamber, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 555 South Washington Avenue, Titusville, Florida. Co-Chairperson Gutman called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m. Present were Co-Chairperson Isaac Gutman, Members Ben Hamilton, Edie Pringle, and Aliyah Deimeke. Members Emilee Ellis, Savannah Sevor, Aiden Sperr, and Richie Dobbs all participated via communications media technology (telephone), as allowed by Florida Statutes and State emergency orders during COVID-19 pandemic. Co-Chairpersons Taylor Batson and Caleb Phillips, and Member Jacob Phillips were absent.
Also, in attendance were North Brevard Homeschool Association (NBHSA) Advisor Cathie Gutman and Secretary/Staff Liaison Caitlin Rodriguez.
All member’s names were called for roll call votes due to the majority of Student Advisory Council members participating via communications media technology (telephone).

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion:
Member Sevor moved to approve the minutes of the regular Student Advisory Council (SAC) meeting of September 15, 2020, as submitted. Member Hamilton seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as followed:

NEW BUSINESS:
Assignment of Other Officers – The recommended action was to assign Council members to the positions of Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, and any other officers the Council deemed necessary.
Member Pringle nominated Member Hamilton to be the Vice-Chairperson for the 2020/2021 term. Member Hamilton accepted the nomination as Vice-Chairperson.
Motion:
Member Pringle moved to nominate Member Hamilton as the Vice-Chairperson of the 2020/2021 Student Advisory Council term. Member Deimeke seconded the motion and the roll call vote was as followed:

Member Sevor volunteered to be the secretary for the Student Advisory Council for the 2020/2021 term.

OLD BUSINESS:
2020 Florida League Youth Council Photo Competition – At the September 15, 2020 Student Advisory Meeting the Council authorized Co-Chair C. Phillips and Member Sevor to coordinate with the City Liaison to participate in submitting 1-3 photo contest entries by the deadline of October 7, 2020.
Member Sevor stated that she submitted her photo and essay and that they were anticipating the results from the competition that should be released by the Council’s next meeting.
2020/2021 Goals/Recommendations – The request was for the Student Advisory Council to formalize 2-4 goals (projects) for the 2020/2021 term, but considering their and their peers health and safety during the pandemic.
At the Student Advisory Council meeting on September 15, 2020, the Council voted to table this item until the October 20, 2020 meeting to give the members more time to come up with more ideas for discussion.
Member Pringle stated that she would like for the Student Advisory Council to consider an event called EarthWise. The event would be focused on educating the community, especially the youth of Titusville, on ending littering and improving recycling. Member Pringle suggested handing out project-based packets with information and projects for children and their families to learn how they can help the environment.
The Student Advisory Council came to a consensus to table the item to a future Student Advisory Council meeting to give each member more time to come up with ideas and topics for discussion.

With no further business to discuss, Member Sevor moved to adjourn the meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 4:22 p.m. Member Hamilton seconded the roll call vote was as follows:
