GREAT NEWS!!

The items that can now be recycled have increased.  Please participate in the program.  With the conversion to the Automated Refuse Collection Program the more items you recycle, the more room you will have in your refuse cart.

Plastic bottles collected from your neighborhood will be made into new plastic products such as carpeting and clothing, garden furniture and accessories, new plastic bottles and a variety of other products

The following items are collected in the curbside recycling program:

Materials Accepted:

Aluminum food and beverage containers

Glass food and beverage containers – brown, clear, or green

Ferrous (Iron) cans

PET plastic containers with the symbol #1 – with screw tops only, without caps

HDPE natural plastic containers with the symbol #2 – narrow neck containers

    only (milk and water bottles)

HDPE pigmented plastic containers with the symbol #2 – narrow neck containers only,

    without caps (detergent, shampoo bottles, etc.)

Plastics with symbols #3, #4, #5, #6, #7-narrow and screw top containers

Margarine tubs with numbers 1 - 7

Yogurt containers

Newsprint

Old corrugated cardboard

Magazines

Catalogs

Cereal boxes

Brown paper bags

Telephone books

Printer paper

Copier paper

Mail

Gable Top Containers

Greeting Cards

Colored construction paper

Aseptic Juice Boxes

Clean foil & aluminum food pans

Paper towel and toilet tissue rolls

All other office paper without wax liners

 

Materials Not Accepted, include but are not limited to (“Unacceptable Materials”):

Microwave trays

Mirrors

Window or auto glass

Light Bulbs

Ceramics

Porcelain

Plastics unnumbered

Coat hangers

Glass cookware/bakeware

Household items such as cooking pots, toasters, etc.

Tissues, paper towels or other paper that has been in contact with food is not acceptable.

Medical supplies

Pill bottles

Pesticides and herbicides

Motor oil containers

Solvent, paint and adhesive containers

Packing paper

Styrofoam food trays

Egg cartons

Plastic bags – No plastic bags or wrappers of any kind

All glass containers must be empty and free of metal caps and rings.

All tin cans, bi-metal cans, and aluminum cans must be empty.

All aerosol cans must be empty.

All plastic containers must be empty, caps removed.

All Fiber must be dry and free of food debris and other contaminating

 

 Please….. 

•  Rinse your aluminum, glass and plastic containers.

•  Remove the caps, lids or pumps. (it is not necessary to remove the labels).

•  Flatten all boxes.

•  Place your recycling cart at the curb by 6:30 am on your collection date per ordinance.

•  Call the Solid waste Division at 321-383-5755 if you have questions, you have no cart, or  

   your collection is missed.

 

Syringes ARE NOT accepted for recycling.  They must be disposed of through Brevard County
