Mayor Jim Tulley is a 25 year resident of Titusville. He worked for Lockheed Space Operations Company and United Space Alliance at KSC since 1985, and retired in October of 2009. Prior to election to City Council in 2004, Mr. Tulley served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He has also been involved in Indian City Little League, Titusville Soccer Club and was a founding member of the Titusville High School Academic Booster Club.
Mr. Tulley is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, class of 1969 and was designated a Naval Aviator in June of 1971. He spent 27 years in the Navy and Naval Reserve, retiring at the rank of Captain in 2004. From 1998 to 2001 he was an Emergency Planning Liaison Officers, responsible for planning and coordinating Navy Support during periods of national disasters in the state of Florida. Because of this experience, he was recalled to active duty in 2002, serving on the staff of Commander U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
In addition to the Naval Academy, Mr. Tulley holds advance degrees in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science. He is a Life Member of the Association of the United States Navy, and the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association.
Mayor Tulley was born in December 1947, in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Mineola. He is married to the former Kathleen Macdonald of Santa Barbara, CA. They have two daughters and a son, all of whom graduated from St. Teresa's Catholic School and Titusville High School.
