The City of Titusville is proud to announce that Fire and Emergency Services staff Marianna Hutchinson, Chad Lindquist and Greg Sutton have achieved the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification for their project “Fire Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Scheduling Process”. With Lean Six Sigma techniques Fire staff developed improvements to the process that will result in savings of $9,000 by establishing maintenance intervals, and will eliminate redundancy as well as improve interdepartmental communications.
In January 2015, City staff completed a weeklong Green Belt course taught by CAS Adaptive Solutions CEO Don Johnston. A Lean Six Sigma project uses the DMAIC model for process improvement, progressing through the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control phases of the model. Lean Six Sigma is part of the City Council’s Strategic Plan Priorities FY 2015 of Efficient and Effective Services, to develop an organizational culture of continuous improvement.
In order to achieve Green Belt certification, candidates are required to complete four steps: attend training, pass an exam, complete a project and present the project demonstrating use of the Lean DMAIC model and knowledge of Lean Six Sigma techniques.
Fire and Emergency Services staff completed the certification process and received their Green Belt certificates at the May 26, 2015, 5:30 PM, Council Meeting.
