City employees receive LEAN Six Sigma Greenbelt Training to enhance delivery of city services
Mayor Jim Tulley and members of Council adopted in the 2015 Strategic Plan priorities the development of an organizational culture of continuous improvement.
City Manager Scott Larese initiated the LEAN Six Sigma (L6S) process improvement methodology to promote a culture of continuous improvement, to study work processes to reduce waste and increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Sixteen employees from various departments participated in training at the Green Belt level of L6S provided by local firm CAS Adaptive Solutions with the expectation of becoming Green Belt certified.
The next step in achieving certification is to complete a process improvement project approved by the employee’s respective department head and City Manager. Over the next several months, each student will use the various LEAN techniques to identify, map and re-engineer specific city processes with the goal of reducing waste and increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
