Retiree- Bert Sellers

25 years of service
Captain Bert Sellers (Ret.)

Bert Sellers retired in 1989 after 25 years of service to our department. After four years of military service, Bert joined the Titusville Police Department on March 1, 1964. At the beginning of his career, Bert worked in the patrol division six days a week.

In 1965, he was assigned to the Detective Division under Capt. W. J Bohannon. Shortly after that assignment, Bert was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. By 1972, he had been promoted to Lieutenant.

Bert also served as supervisor of communications and records sections and was the department’s firearms instructor from 1973-1989.  At the time, then Chief Kirkland required all Lieutenants to enroll in college.  As a result, Bert graduated from Brevard Community College, The University of Central Florida, and Rollins College. He also graduated from the National Institute of Polygraph Science and was the Department’s polygraph examiner.

Bert retired on March 1, 1989 as a Captain. He then moved to North Carolina for nine years, Ocala for 4 years, and now calls Tennessee home.
