The City of Titusville, Florida / Police / NewsOfficers Raise Money and Awareness for Visually Impaired
Titusville Police Officers participated in the “Dining in the Dark” event by serving over 100 guests dinner in complete darkness with just the aid of wearing their night vision goggles!
“Dining in the Dark” was hosted on Saturday evening September 10th 2016 at the Melbourne Crown Plaza Oceanfront by the Center for the Visually Impaired.
Guests enjoyed dining in complete darkness in the effort to experience some of the challenges that the visually impaired face every day.
The fun filled event also included a silent auction, and all proceeds from the night’s festivities benefited the Center for the Visually Impaired, which offers services to Brevard County’s blind and visually impaired free of charge.
“This is an amazing opportunity to bring awareness and educate the community about visual impairments”, said Titusville Police Lieutenant Glen Hamann. “Specifically, we are honored as an agency and as officers to play a part in brining attention to the challenges of those visually impaired”, added Hamann.
