The City of Titusville, Florida / Police / NewsSuspect Charged in Hospital ShootingJust after 2AM on Sunday July 17, 2016 officers responded to Parrish Medical Center, 951 N. Washington Ave for a report of shots fired inside the medical facility. Deputies from Brevard County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist Titusville Police. The suspect was quickly taken into custody.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the lone suspect entered through the emergency room area. He made is way to a room on the 3rd floor where he shot an elderly female patient in her room and a hospital employee who was also in the room.
The suspect left the one handgun used behind in the room. Hospital security guards tackled the suspect shortly after and held him down for arriving officers.
The suspect taken into custody, Titusville resident David Owens, d.o.b 11/26/1986, has been booked into Brevard County Jail for Two Counts of Murder.

Investigators have not been able to determine a motive at this time, nor any connection to the victims. They are continuing to investigate this tragic incident.
- Cynthia Zingsheim, 88, of Titusville was the patient in the room.
- Carrie Rouzer, 36, of Titusville was the employee shot.
Parrish Medical Center will be providing information about their protocols and operational impacts on the hospital today for the public.
