Residential Knox Boxes Now Available for Home Use

Certain commercial structures within Titusville have been required for over 30 years to install a Knox Box Vault containing keys to the facility on the outside of their business.  This allows the Fire and Emergency Services Department retrieval of the key, thus providing for rapid entry during an emergency.  Using a key to gain access reduces the amount of damage sustained by other attempts to gain entry for medical, hazardous conditions or fire-related calls for service when the occupants are unavailable or unable to grant access.  Use of this system also makes re-securing accessed property more reliable, easier and faster.

The Knox Company now has a key vault system (HomeBox) for residential structures.  Titusville Fire and Emergency Services Department has reviewed the system and approved its addition to our keyless response protocols.    For more information regarding the system, along with contact information for the company, visit their website at

If you have any questions regarding the fire department’s role in this rapid response system, please contact Senior Fire Inspector Mark Whorton at 567-3794 or
