In effort to reduce the availability of alcoholic beverages to underage persons, The Titusville Police Department conducted yet another alcohol compliance check on Wednesday, July 26Th. Titusville Police had a nineteen year old male enter 10 different retail businesses in an attempt to purchase an alcoholic beverage. Four of the stores sold beer to the underage buyer without asking for his true Florida identification. The following businesses and clerks were charged with selling an alcoholic beverage to a person under the age of 21:
These violations have been sent to the State Division of Alcohol Beverage (ABT), where the stores face Administrative Action including and up to the loss of their license to sell alcoholic Beverages.
The clerks were released with court dates to appear for Selling Alcohol to A Person under 21.
The Titusville Police Department will continue these checks throughout the year as well as other operations to reduce or eliminate the possibility of people under the age of 21 of obtaining alcohol.
TPD had sent out letters informing these businesses that we would be conducting compliance checks to ensure they complied with the law and identified any person who did not appear old enough to purchase alcohol.
