L.S.S. Heather Gilmore Selected for BPS 2016 Shining Star Award

Last Friday evening, the Brevard Public Schools hosted the 2016 Business Partners of the Year Awards in Viera. With over 100 businesses in attendance along with many top members and teachers from the School Board for Brevard County, Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore of the Titusville Fire and Emergency Services Department was presented with the "2016 Individual Shining Star Award". This award comes from Heather's dedicated efforts in working with many of the Titusville Schools to provide important life safety and injury prevention and mentorship programs to the students.

Injury and life safety prevention and positive mentorship programs are crucial to our youth, and if our efforts result in at least 1 life saved, and reduced injury, then these initiatives are a true success!

“Our schools continue to reap the rewards from the business partner program,” said Debra Foley, district program coordinator. “As relationships grow, more and more businesses feel a part of our school communities. We welcome them."

L to R:  Superintendent Desmond Blackburn, Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore, Andy Ziegler Chairman of the Brevard Public Schools Board.
