Special Olympics Torch Run 2016

The Annual Special Olympics Torch Run united Law Enforcement and Athletes bringing awareness and pride to the community. On Thursday, April 14th 2016, members of the Police Department and other City Team Members participated in the event that benefits Special Olympics of Florida.

The Titusville leg of the event went from Publix on Garden Street to Sand Point Park. Several other communities in Brevard County held their own leg of the run that culminated at Space Coast Stadium in Viera just after 6pm.

Law enforcement vehicles from many Brevard County agencies escorted the athletes onto the ball field as they ended their county long run with the torch in hand.

An exhibition softball game took place in the stadium. The National Gold Medal Special Olympics Team “Banditz”, took on local law enforcement members “Enforcers”. The night ended with a fabulous fireworks display!

We look forward every year to be able to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run”, said Chief John Lau. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of the players and their family members makes this one of our favorites”, added Lau.
