If you receive a telephone call of this nature and are unsure about the origin of the call, please immediately hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency for further assistance.

Titusville Fire Chief Richard Talbert Sworn in as President of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association

On July 26th, retired Washington DC Fire Lieutenant Dick Talbert administered the oath of office to the executive board of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association, which included his son, President Richard Talbert, Titusville's Fire Chief.  Attending the swearing in ceremony were members of Chief Talbert's family: mother June Talbert, daughter Jennifer and son Jeff, wife Laura, Titusville City Manager Tom Harmer and wife Dee Dee, Titusville department and city staff members, and peers and representatives from fire departments throughout the state of Florida.

 FFCA Immediate Past-President Mark Souders then turned the podium over to Titusville's City Manager, Tom Harmer.  "I'm here today at the direction of Titusville's elected officials to recognize your Association's incoming President, Richard Talbert, as an outstanding fire chief, citizen, and role model in our community and congratulate him on his selection as President of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association. 

In addition, I would like to present him with this Official Proclamation issued by Titusville's Mayor and City Council, recognizing Chief Talbert's professional endeavors within the fire service for the past 27 years."

President Richard Talbert thanked Titusville's City Council, remarking, "Our Mayor and Council are extremely supportive of our involvement in our associations.  They feel it raises the bar for all of us in our respective departments and cultivates innovation and a higher level of service deliver to our citziens."

President Richard Talbert thanked everyone who attended the ceremony and congratulated the other members of the board of directors.  He noted, "This is a very special appointment for Titusville and our fire department.  I am the third Titusville Fire Chief to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Associatioin and the second to be president of this Association.  It was twenty years ago this evening that Titusville Fire Chief Richard Cherry was installed as your President and I am extremley proud to be part of that tradition.    

In concluding his remarks, President Talbert urged Florida's fire service leaders to remain involved and committed, providing leadership and direction. "You help set the standard that makes all of us better at what we do and your involvement, your passion and your energy raises the bar for all of us."
