Suspect Caught Trying To Break Into Woman's Home

Suspect caught trying to break into an occupied home in Titusville.


At 3:00 pm today, 6/23/06, Titusville Police received a 911 call from a female resident of 1011 2nd Ave in Titusville. A man she did not recognize was trying to break into her home. As Titusville Police officers surrounded the neighborhood, the suspect tried to flee the area. He was quickly apprehended.


We are especially thankful that we were able to apprehend this suspect before he got into the home. The suspect, Dionte J. Davis, D.O.B. 6/5/86 of Lake City, Florida, was armed with a knife. He has been arrested in the past in Madison County, Florida for Sexual Assault, Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, and Concealed Weapons.


Davis did not cooperate with investigators. We do not know his motive at this time, but we are glad the homeowner immediately called police. She was unharmed in this incident.


Davis was charged with Attempted Occupied Burglary, and Possession of Burglary Tools. A Booking photo from Brevard County Jail was unavailable at the time of this news release.
