Bank Robbery Suspect Caught Within Minutes
A bank robbery suspect didn’t make it far when he was stopped by an off-duty firefighter minutes after robbing a Titusville bank.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m., on 6/23/06, a suspect walked into the Bank of America, 1108 S. Washington Ave., in downtown Titusville. The suspect pointed a rifle at tellers and demanded money. A customer was walking in at the time, realized what was happening, and snuck back out the door. That customer flagged down another customer in the bank parking lot who had a cell phone, and they called police. After the suspect robbed the bank, he attempted to flee on his bicycle. An off-duty volunteer firefighter with the Four Corners Fire Department, Brevard County, spotted the suspect a block away. That firefighter, ordered the suspect to the ground. An off-duty Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was driving by, stopped and handcuffed the suspect until Titusville Officers arrived. The rifle, which turned out to be a pellet gun, and the cash from the bank was recovered from the suspect. Nobody was injured during this incident.
ARRESTED: Jeffrey Tyrone Pratt, D.O.B. 2/17/86, of Gibson St. Titusville. Booked into Brevard County Jail for Armed Robbery.
