Learn about Your Drinking Water
TITUSVILLE, FL - (June 2, 2014) – What do you know about your drinking water? Do you know where it comes from? How is it treated? Or even more importantly, whether it meets federal and state standards? For the answers to these questions and much more, Titusville water customers can turn to the 2014 edition of Titusville’s annual water quality report, The Water We Drink 2013
, available online at titusville.com/ccr.
In an effort to give consumers information about their drinking water, the federal government requires water utilities to produce annual water quality reports, also known as consumer confidence reports (CCRs). The reports include information on water sources, contaminants, and health effects of contaminants. This is the second year that federal requirements have allowed water utilities to post their water quality reports online instead of mailing the report to each billing customer.
“We want everyone to have access to the report so that they can learn about our water system and the quality of water we deliver,” explained Maureen Phillips, Water Conservation and Public Outreach Manager. “For years we have posted our water quality report on Titusville’s website, in addition to mailing the report to each customer. Now, we have a specific URL (www.titusville.com/ccr) for the report and we mail the report only to those customers that request one.”
To request a mailed copy of the water quality report, call the City of Titusville Water Conservation Office at (321) 383-5669. Copies can also be picked up at Titusville City Hall and the Mourning Dove Water Production Plant, as well as at local organizations including the Brevard County Health Department, the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, Parrish Fitness Center, Parrish Medical Center, and the YMCA.
When asked about the report, Sean L. Stauffer, P.E., Titusville’s Water Resources Director added that the report provided an annual opportunity to reach out to water customers. “We want our customers to be informed about their water system and we want to do everything we can to make that easy and convenient for them.”
