Brush Fire Leads to Arson Arrests
Sunday, May 21, 2006

When:    Last night (5/21/06 at 11PM)

Where:  North Carpenter Rd. Titusville

Why:      Juveniles started a brush fire in a residential area.

Two Titusville Juveniles were arrested within hours of starting a brush fire last evening in a heavily populated residential area of Titusville.

At approximately 7:09 PM, Titusville Officers responded to assist Titusville Fire & Emergency Services with a report of a brush fire on the east side of Carpenter Rd near Heller Rd. Officers spoke with residents in the area who had seen two juveniles run from the area. Officers learned their names and tracked them down. The two suspects were arrested at 11PM.

We are very fortunate the winds had died down prior to the fire starting because it had the potential to be devastating to area homes.

Both Juveniles, Cody Lovier and Kyle Meister of Titusville, were charged with Arson (felony), and are being held at the Juvenile Justice Center in Sharpes.

Titusville Police will continue to immediately respond to and aggressively investigate all brush fires. We credit these arrests to the help and involvement we received from the residents of that area.
