EXTRA MILE AWARD:
The Extra Mile Award is presented to an employee or group of employees that show extra effort and superior performance on a specific project, task force, or routine assignment. This award also recognized oustanding contributions to accomplish team goals, objectives, and quality service.
Two weeks before Christmas, 2005 a recently unemployed single mother approached Reggie about securing smoke detectors for the home she was providing for her family of five. Although unable to qualify for the department's grant-funded detector program because she lived outside of the city limit areas authorized by the grant, Reggie didn't stop there. Contacting a social agency and working with Wal-Mart, he was able to secure funding and donations for both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and other assistance. He also ensured that she had sufficient and correctly installed child restraint seats for her children before she drove away. After discussing her situation with staff members, he also provided this family with donations for food and other certificates from a local grocery store and market chain.
Reggie went the extra mile to ensure that this family was safe and well-cared for, but this is just one example of the many times he has stepped outside his job requirements to help in whatever way he can. His helpful and caring nature comes through with everyone he comes into contact with. |
