Thanksgiving Week: Thursday’s pickup for garbage, recycling and yard trash will be on Wednesday. There will be no other changes for the week.

CAUTION: The City of Titusville has received several complaints from citizens in reference to receiving fraudulent telephone calls from subjects claiming to be with the utility department. If you receive a telephone call of this nature and are unsure about the origin of the call, please immediately hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency for further assistance.

Doug Massey Retires after 30 Years of Service

Major Doug Massey
Major Doug Massey retired effective September 30th, 2011 after 30 years of service.

Doug Massey joined TPD in 1981. He served as a Field Training Program Coordinator, Detective, and as a member of the Tactical Team. Doug was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1990 and served as a supervisor in the Patrol Division as well as in the Criminal Investigations Division. Doug was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1990, Commander in 1999, and Major 2009.

Doug also served as the South Sector Commander and the Special Operations (SWAT) Commander. Doug received numerous awards including the Gallantry Star, Officer of the Year, multiple Officer of the Month awards.

One of the more notable periods in Doug's career is when he was shot in the leg during a traffic stop.

A retirement ceremony was held for Doug on September 24th. "We are very greatful for Doug's years of dedicated service, and wish him all the best in his retirement!", said Chief Tony Bollinger.
