The City’s Flag and Memorial Committee is sponsoring its annual Astronaut Memorial Ceremony on Saturday, January 29, 2011 beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the Astronaut Memorial Plaza, Sandpoint Park in Titusville, 2 A. Max Brewer Parkway (S.R. 402).   The event is open to the public and our community members are urged to attend.

This ceremony is held annually in remembrance of the Astronauts lost in the Apollo, Challenger and Columbia accidents, along with honoring all Astronauts who continue to face the unknowns of space exploration.

The Keynote Speaker for this year’s ceremony will be Robert Sieck, Retired NASA Launch Director for the Space Shuttle Program.  Also participating will be City of Titusville Mayor Jim Tulley, color guard units from the American Legion Post 1 and Korean War Veterans, the Brevard Police and Fire Pipes and Drums; and local community representatives who will be placing flowers on the plaques of our fallen astronauts.

For further information, please contact Staff Liaison Karen S. Richards, 383-5750 or karen.richards@titusville.com
