GET A KIT.  MAKE A PLAN.  BE INFORMED.

Three short sentences, but these instructions form the foundation of preparations you need to take to protect you and your family in the event of emergencies.

Planning, preparing for, responding to and mitigating emergencies begins with YOU.

Get A Kit, Get a Plan, Be Informed

GET A KIT.

Assemble a disaster supply kit to support you and your family (don't forget about pets) for at least three days.  It should include food, water, clothing, medical supplies, important vital records and equipment such as flashlights and battery-operated radios.

MAKE A PLAN.

Develop a communications plan for all family members and make sure everyone has a copy.  Learn about the emergency plans already prepared for your workplace, your children's schools and your community.  Develop an emergency escape plan for your home and practice it.

BE INFORMED.

Knowledge, through preparedness, transforms fear and confusion into confidence and action.  Preparedness is an attitude you have to build, then the techniques are relatively simple.

Family preparedness builds a sustainable community.  Help our Titusville community by preparing you and your family today.  For more details on how to assemble a disaster kit, prepare a communications plan and preparedness information on a variety of issues, go to www.ready.gov or www.floridadisaster.org or contact Titusville Fire and Emergency Services at 383-5708.
