Pharmacy Robbery Suspect Captured within Minutes
Monday, April 19, 2010

Officers Credit Alert Citizen for Helping in the Arrest

Thanks to the help of an alert citizen, a suspect in the robbery of a Titusville pharmacy was captured shortly after the incident.

At approximately 3:30 P.M. on Monday, April 19th, 2010, Titusville Police responded to a “hold up” alarm at the East Coast Pharmacy, 504 Garden St.

While officers responded, dispatchers received a call about a disturbance in the parking lot of the pharmacy. Additionally, a call was received from a motorist who had witnessed a suspect flee the store on a motorcycle and suspected he had committed an offense. The motorist followed the suspect and notified dispatchers of his location. The suspect was located on Valerie Dr., about a mile from the pharmacy, by Officer Larry Larson. Prescription medication that had been taken in the robbery was recovered from the suspect. Pharmacy employees identified the suspect as the man that had handed an employee a note indicating that he was armed with a gun and that he was demanding Oxycodone from the pharmacy. The suspect struggled briefly with employees after grabbing prescription pills from the pharmacy. No employees were injured in the incident.

No weapon was recovered. Investigators do not believe the suspect had a weapon, he only implied it during the robbery. Under Florida Law, when a suspect implies they have a weapon, it is still considered an armed robbery.

The alert citizen in this case helped immensely by calling police and relaying valuable information about the suspect’s location; he will likely be recognized formally by the department for his actions.
