Thanksgiving Week: Thursday’s pickup for garbage, recycling and yard trash will be on Wednesday. There will be no other changes for the week.

CAUTION: The City of Titusville has received several complaints from citizens in reference to receiving fraudulent telephone calls from subjects claiming to be with the utility department. If you receive a telephone call of this nature and are unsure about the origin of the call, please immediately hang up and contact your local law enforcement agency for further assistance.

Titusville Officer Named Brevard County Officer of the Year

Titusville Police Department’s, Officer Jorge Martinez, has been named the 2009 Officer of the Year winner by the Brevard County Chiefs of Police.  Officer Martinez has only been employed with our agency since October of 2007 – 26 months - but in that time he has proven to be a very dedicated and pro-active police officer. 

 

In 2009 alone, Officer Martinez

o   answered 1,951 calls for service

o   made 34 felony arrests

o   recovered 6 firearms

o   seized 1 vehicle

o   made 6 DUI arrests

o   took over 185 grams of marijuana, over 20 grams of cocaine off the streets, and

o   seized $1,879.17 in drug money.

 

He was nominated for the department’s 2008 Outstanding Rookie Award and in 2009 he received:

o     two Life Saving Awards

o     the department’s Exceptional Service Award

o     the department’s Unit Citation award

o     Officer of the Month for December 2009

o     2009 Officer of the Year
