Chief Executive Seminar
Thursday, August 13, 2009

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute and the Titusville Police Department announce the graduation on August 13th of Assistant Chief John Lau from the Chief Executive Seminar. Nineteen senior managers representing criminal justice agencies around the state make up the latest graduating class.

Assistant Chief John Lau has been with the Titusville Police Department since 1992. He holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida and oversees the Operations Bureau at TPD. John is also a graduate of the FBI’s National Law Enforcement Academy, 224th Session.

The seminar met for one week each month for three months at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Headquarters in Tallahassee.  Graduates took classes on topics such as succession planning, ethics, and implementing strategic change .and were required to complete an independent study to examine a contemporary criminal justice issue.

The goal of the Chief Executive Seminar is to prepare Florida’s Criminal Justice leadership for the challenging and changing demands of the future. Class participants study trends and events that may affect criminal justice professionals and our state and develop new leadership skills to address and manage the changes that lie ahead.

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, established within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and affiliated with the State University System, was established in 1990 by the Florida Legislature who recognized the need for an innovative and multifaceted approach to the education and training of criminal justice professionals.

“This was a tremendous opportunity for our Department as we continue to pursue the best possible education and training level for our organization”, Chief Tony Bollinger said.
