Firefighters from Titusville Fire and Emergency Services Department, Melbourne Fire Department, and Orlando Sanford International Airport gathered at the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville July 21 and 22 to participate in annual live airport rescue fire fighter (ARFF) training, using a portable aircraft simulator.  The state-of-the-art mobile aircraft simulator is based out of Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan and travels the country providing various levels of ARFF training.

Several scenarios were practiced by each departments' crews, including victim search and rescue, flowing fuel fires, and other types of fires commonly found during aircraft emergencies.  The live fire training is one component of the department's annual airport training which also includes airport familiarization for day and high operations, live fire training and other procedures as required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
