Kiwanis donate 4th police dog to TPD
Wednesday, May 27, 2009

The Titusville Police Department is proud to present our newest addition to the force: K-6, better known as “Karlo”.

Karlo Dog of Courage as he has been officially named by local schoolchildren, is an 18 month-old Belgian Milionis that was imported from Holland but has been trained locally.  Karlo will be a patrol dog and maintain certifications in tracking, drug detection, and apprehension.  Karlo will serve the community by using his heightened senses to track the scents of missing juveniles and endangered adults, as well as locating illegal drugs and increasing officer safety in dangerous situations.

The addition of Karlo to the force was made possible by a generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of Titusville, long supporters of the Police Department.  “We are grateful to the Kiwanis organization’s commitment to our community.” said Chief Bollinger.

Karlo's new partner, Officer Roger Bond, joined TPD after a career in the United States Marine Corps.  Roger brings experience, confidence, and great work ethic to the partnership.  Together they will make a great team!
