Brenda McGovern, of the Central Brevard Chapter of IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals), presented Titusville Police with a generous donation of over fifty individually wrapped teddy bears on behalf of IAAP. These teddy bears will be used to supply TPD's "comforting children at scenes" initiative that started over 12 years ago.
Police Officers have found that teddy bears can be a very effective tool at helping to calm anxious or upset children at a variety of different police scenes. Whether a child is a victim of a crime, a witness to a serious incident, or sometimes simply a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a traffic violation, teddy bears are in invaluable tool in calming kids- as well as helping to prevent negative images of police.
When the Central Brevard Chapter of the IAAP became aware of the program, they wanted to help support it. Their donation is estimated to support the program for at least one whole year.
