Wednesday, January 21, 2009

EACH YEAR HOME HEATING EQUIPMENT CAUSES OVER 60,000 FIRES.

With severe cold temperatures anticipated during the next two evenings, Titusville Fire and Emergency Services Department urges residents and others in our area to protect themselves by remembering some very basic home heating safety tips.

·        Make sure your home heating system is serviced and working properly.

·        Have working smoke detectors in every sleeping area of the home or apartment.

·        Have working carbon monoxide detectors in your home or apartment especially if you have gas appliances, liquid fueled heaters and/or a fire place.

·        Do not use your oven to heat your home.

For further heating safety information, please contact the Public Education Division, 383-5708.
