Holiday and Winter Safety

 fireplacesafety

It's that time of year...holiday baking, twinkling trees and cuddling in front of a toasty fire during our cooling Florida nights.

It's also the time to take precautions to ensure that your holiday magic doesn't go up in smoke.

Illuminations, whether in the form of lights decorating the outside of your home or candles flickering in the centerpiece of your holiday table, can turn deadly if you haven't planned properly.  The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) provides the following tips to enjoy your holidays safely.

 Holiday Safety Tips

Also make sure that the crackling sound you hear is wood burning in a fireplace that was properly cleaned and screened and not your house going up in flames.  In addition to holiday safety tips, NFPA also provides comprehensive information about heating safety in the home for the full winter season.

 Heating Safety Tips

The members of Titusville Fire and Emergency Services Department wish all the members of our community a wonderful, and safe, winter season.
