Officer Van Cott with family members at City Hall

TPD Exceptional Service Award Winner Officer Nic Van Cott is also named City-Wide Employee of the Month.

Officer VanCott was assigned a stalking case in which a 27 year-old man was stalking an underage girl. The suspect had been spotted trying to climb in the girls bedroom, was harrasing family members, and was becoming very dangerous. Because the victim was too afraid to cooperate, some keen investigative work was needed to obtain the necessary charges against this suspect. Ofc. Van Cott went above and beyond in his tenacious and thorough investigation and was able to build a case on the suspect that involved a total of 61 charges involving Stalking & Violation of a Restraining Order (Injunction). The suspect is facing considerable jail time.
