The City Council of the City of Titusville is looking for interested persons to serve on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to which the City of Titusville will appoint eleven members.  The appointments are scheduled for the June 23, 2008 regular city council meeting.

As a participant in the State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) program, the City of Titusville must adopt housing incentive strategies in the Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) as defined in s. 420.9071(16).  THE CITY OF TITUSVILLE is seeking local citizens to serve on its local Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) for the purpose of reviewing local policies, ordinances, land development regulations, and procedures that affect affordable housing projects and make recommendations for incentive strategies thereto.

It is intended that members of the AHAC will be persons of knowledge, experience, judgment and background, and have personal or professional interest or experience in affordable housing.  They will have the ability and desire to act in the public interest and represent, insofar as possible, the various special personal and professional interests required to make informed and equitable decisions concerning the provisions of housing which is affordable for all economic segments of the community.

The AHAC shall consist of 11 memebers and must include the following members:

  1. One local citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing;
  2. One local citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing;
  3. One local citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing;
  4. One local citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection wtih affordable housing;
  5. One local citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable houisng;
  6. One local citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing;
  7. One local citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing;
  8. One local citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to s. 163.3174;
  9. One local citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction;
  10. One local citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the City's Local Housing Assistance Plan.

**The City will consider all applications from local citizens.

The Committee members shall receive no compensation for their services.  Committee members shall abide by and be subject to the provisions of Chapter 112, Florida Statutes, Part III, pertaining to the Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees.
