DATE: January 2008 FOR RELEASE: Immediate to February 1, 2008
The Titusville Flag and Memorial Committee is sponsoring its annual Astronaut Memorial Ceremony on Saturday, February 2, 2008, beginning at 1:00 p.m., the Astronaut Memorial Plaza in Sand Point Park, Titusville, Florida. This event provides an opportunity for the community to remember all the astronauts who gave their lives for the exploration of space. It also allows our community to recognize the contributions made by the space program.
The keynote speaker is Patrick Simpkins, Director of Engineering for NASA at the KSC. The color guard units will include active duty personnel from the U. S. Air Force, the U. S. Navy, and community fraternal and civic organizations. The Naval Ordnance Test Unit (NOTU) from Port Canaveral will present a 21-Cannon Salute at the end of the program.
